Life: The Intense Story of a Drug and Alcohol User's Overdose
Anchored North shares another film of one’s life story coming to trust in Jesus to live as a Christian — changing into a different person. Anchored North has produced several films so far, and in this film entitled “The Overdose: The Unbelievable Story of an Ecstasy User,” Jeff (now a Christian preacher and pastor), shares about his life before coming to know and trust God, and the details are intense and unbelievable. Jeff grew up in Japan and worked in the martial arts world which included his work for the Ninja Turtles Franchise.
Jeff reveals how he left his wife and family (even new born son) in pursuing more alcohol, cocaine, and ecstasy use. Jeff mentions that the amount of drugs and alcohol increased as seemingly small amounts were like ‘a cup of coffee.’ A trip to Las Vegas and an awful night of drug abuse almost killed him. He prayed to God to heal his overheating body while he was soaking in an ice bath, and in a moment, he also though about giving up. Within a moment of time, the heat went away and his life spared. However, as Jeff says, his life still did not change, and he went back to using.
Later on, Jeff came under conviction and opened a Bible to passages where Jesus calls out to people “come and die” or “have peace with God and be forgiven.” He noticed that it’s not about praying a prayer to have eternal life after death but something bigger and better in having reconciliation to God now and forever because of Jesus — who Jesus is and what he did on the cross and his resurrection from death, which is good news or the gospel of Christ Jesus.
After realizing the truths of the gospel and God’s word as well as the reality that God transforms and changes people, Jeff finally submitted and prayed to God for God to rule him and lead him. Jeff shares at this point his life “started to change. That’s it.”
Just because anyone of us have lived a life without God doesn’t mean we cannot have a new life with him — now and forever. God is always calling and revealing himself to people — making himself known to the world, in every nation, and at ever time — for people to trust him. And when we do, we find salvation and friendship with him, which is also known as reconciliation.
It’s not how good or evil we are, it’s who God is and what he has done to make a relationship with his creation possible and eternal through the person and work of Jesus the Christ. He is good news.
Trust him today.
