Our Journey: 12 Year Anniversary
Abby and I are celebrating our 12th anniversary of being married today, but did much of the celebrating yesterday with the kids. A lot has happened over 12 years and doesn't seem like it will slow down any time soon! With twin girls on the way, Lord willing, we will be at 7 kids around Thanksgiving.
Over 12 years, we have worked about 10 jobs, had hundreds of people over for dinner (estimating over 1k), moved 6 times, lived in 5 apartments, lived in two states, gained a graduate degree, read too many books-articles-websites-debates, ran some blogs and websites, been involved with 5 churches, researched countless churches and ministries, had several Pacific ocean beach trips, gained a lot of friends, lost some friends, participated and officiated weddings and funerals, watched death come over people, dealt with too many companies that don't care for people, dealt with so many drained from business-family-life, dealt with too many non-caring people, witnessed a lot of people reject Christ, seen some genuinely trust and live for him, seen the world for what it is, witnessed a lot of caring friends, pumped for the time ahead that God gives, and growing in love for God, the gospel, and one another.
The list of life may grow Lord willing but that's unimportant to growing over the years in age and passion for the gospel. Meaning, this life is intense and acts like a magnet into the self-centered abyss of craziness -- no care, no love, twisted truth, and heartache-after-heartache. The world can really take the wind out of your sails. Better to live by a different wind if you know what I mean.
Overall though, we are dreaming big while doing the little things. What a stinkin' great opportunity to see some good stuff happen in and beyond Sacramento. Maybe the rubberneckers will turn into friends on mission inspired by truth and love to make life, disciples, and churches all about Jesus. Or maybe it's just a pipe dream, which in that case at least let someone smoke it for enjoyment sake!
Trolling on!
