Finances: A Challenge to Be Different with Your Life and Finances

Finances: A Challenge to Be Different with Your Life and Finances

Dave Ramsey provides a deep, gut check challenge to be different in this world with your life and finances in the video resource, "Normal Sucks. It's Time to be Weird." People tend to make conscious excuses, fall under emotional strain, continue with bad advice, and give up. It's time to be different! Different from the world and different because of God's work in the heart and mind to live for him. We no longer live for the standards of the world, but rather, live for the Creator of this world and according to his command and counsel.

Listen to the video resource in a receptive way to be challenged regardless of age or stage of life. Listen to not defend or defer but to determine a different direction. Listen not with soft ears easily offended but ready for deep life change. And, if you have received and live by godly counsel, then it's time to counsel others in real life!

Homes: Buying and Selling Real Estate Advice

Homes: Buying and Selling Real Estate Advice

Dave Ramsey provides principles for buying and selling real estate, mainly houses, in this video resource of Dave Ramsey's Real Estate Principles. The helpful advice directs one to avoid countless pitfalls in real estate, as it can be easy to buy or sell before considering wisdom. More so, we want to have wisdom aligned to following Christ. Either we have self-centered wisdom or God-centered and aimed wisdom. If it's the latter, then we see money and possessions (i.e. a house) in light of stewardship on his behalf, learning to live lovingly, hospitable, and generous.

Introduction to Telos Churches

We have started a short video series explaining Telos Churches and Telos Center beginning with this overall introduction. This helps explain and share about the word telos, the gospel, churches, pastors, etc. More to come. Using Money Rightly, Wisely, and Generously

Dr. Darrell Bock interviews Brian Rosner about money and God's direction and counsel in using money rightly, wisely, and generously through Dallas Theological Seminary's The Table podcast in April 2017 entitled "Money, Greed, and Generosity." When truth drives and love characterizes us, we know God is at work from the heart out aiming our life for his purposes and uses to love him and others. Here are some of the questions posed during the interview with helpful details and further questions and answers:

  1. Does God talk about money in the Bible?
  2. is money evil?
  3. How much money should I earn?
  4. What do I do with my lifestyle?
  5. Is earning high profits in business bad?
  6. Are there any Bible passages in the New Testament about "tithing"?
  7. Is tithing a law or of the heart?
  8. Is 10% ('tithe') too high or maybe it is too low for some?
  9. Should I give to international mission work like "missionaries"?
  10. Should I give to others beyond the local church like a college or seminary?

Now Over 100 Telos Mugs Gifted!

Now Over 100 Telos Mugs Gifted!

Fun update as we have now gifted over 100 telos mugs! Wow and thank you!

So many friends have enjoyed the mugs, especially the newest version 3 carrying the message that what centers (telos) our hearts then also aims (telos) our life. This brings up the question for conversation, "What then is your telos?" Telos is just a fun Greek word from history and the Bible that captures both the part as well as the whole of something, which helps us see the connection between the parts of our life within the whole. Ultimately we find in the Bible as well as real life that God is to be our whole life aligning and connecting the parts for his use and glory in making the gospel of Christ known to the world through truth and love.

Where's the telos mug?

Where's the telos mug?

Well friends, check out the fun map to display the where the telos mug has ended up in people's hands sipping on a warm beverage and pondering "what centers (telos) our hearts then aims (telos) our life". We believe that the finished work of Christ is central making "the aim of our charge is love ..." We then live Inspired by truth and love, to make life, disciples, and churches all about Jesus.

Join over 100 friends across the map by gifting a mug or receiving a mug.

Inspirational Preaching: That's My King by S.M. Lockridge

Inspirational Preaching: That's My King by S.M. Lockridge

The late and widely known pastor and preacher, S.M. Lockridge (March 7, 1913 – April 4, 2000), preached the popular sermon entitled "That's My King" what seems to be a 1976 Detroit, Michigan sermon. From the hour long That's My King sermon, short 3-6 minute video snippets collate and showcase the passionate description of Jesus. The whole sermon is just as passionate and call to convictional living in trust to Christ that produces prayer, repentance, biblical-spiritual language, and love for one another.

Not all preachers will methodologically sound the same or sound 'intellectuall' but an inspirational preacher will be one humbled by God to herald or preach the truth and love of God to people regardless on the results or repentance. S.M. Lockridge challenges the audience to become passionate for Christ because of the truth of Christ.

Inspirational Teaching: History by David McCullough on 60 Minutes

Inspirational Teaching: History by David McCullough on 60 Minutes

David McCullough, author of several historical works, has made history readable, fun to read, memorable, and more importantly, engaging. He brings a light hearted but serious perspective to history and it's importance on the present and help for any future. Morley Safer draws much of this out of McCullough through the two interview segments, keeping viewers and listeners engaged beyond the interview and vividly envisioning the present through the lens of time.

History is for real life not a grade or factually luxury of a few. Homes and classrooms are not to be dry and dreary dungeons of facts but inspirational to see beyond ourselves to the truths of time and more so the greatest truth for all time -- the gospel of Christ -- being the epicenter of all life and subjects such as history. Sacrifice and passion will then flow forth from real humans who have learned history's wisdom and understanding as tools to love the world for God's glory.

Inspirational Life Stories: Adoniram Judson

Inspirational Life Stories: Adoniram Judson

I have been greatly impacted and inspired by people God has affected to live for him throughout history, like Adoniram Judson (August 9, 1788 – April 12, 1850). Adoniram Judson was an American who trusted in the gospel and was led to the country of Burma to share the gospel and God's word to those who needed to hear the gospel of Christ, where he then encountered the greatest hardships of life from the loss of family, falsely arrested by an outside intervening government, and a deep, dark depression that turned hopeful in the end.
