Work: Paid Educational Apprenticeships Interview by JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon

About

Mr. Jamie Dimon, current CEO of JPMorgan, shared many of his insights in the below CNBC video including apprenticeships. We are highlighting the video start time at the point where he specifically details the concept being launched. Regardless of the details, we affirm the concept of young adults (i.e. ‘teenagers‘) working to learn and learning to work as part of their education, especially being paid.

God created people to work and rest, and since we live in a broken world since Genesis 3, both work and rest are difficult and broken for all various reasons. There’s always obstacles to sound wisdom such as government, economy, personal issues like health, background, lack of opportunities, and so forth. However, God never said to quit. More so, God has said to “fight the good fight of faith.”

Those in business might be fighting for wrong reasons and motivations, but when they come across truthful, natural parts of life that need to come back into real life (especially education), then we need to highlight and celebrate that. The apprenticeship concept is not new, rather, it’s old. It began in the home with parents engaging and educating their kids to live life. Parents are to train up their kids to trust God and live for him, including work and rest. Though training might not happen well at home, in schools, or in the work place, we should press on to live with the principles God has in place for life and hold onto them.

These paid educational apprenticeships in collaboration with companies, schools, and government would be in a right direction. We would also highlight that anything anyone does is done with a telos centered heart, which always begs the question, “What then is your telos?“ Our telos is to be God and God alone. Meaning, he is to be the central, inspiring one of our heart that then aims and aligns our life — including education and work. The more we learn from him, the clearer we are about living in this life and his truth and love for his creation.

Usually when something is not from God it becomes unsustainable for real life, including education and economy. Hence why markets, employment, relationships, and so much more are volatile vs. stable and steadfast.
